This island situated in Arabian Sea & created by Volcanic Eruption.History says it is as old as the Himalayas.
In 1498 Vasco De Gama landed on this island & called it " EL PADRON DE SANTAMARIA".  It is a beautiful island without any inhabitants and beautiful, safe beach  to swim. It is about one Sq.mile in area with lots of coconut trees which is the shadiest of all the surrounding islands. The island is known for its famous basalt rocks,they have crystallized into columns and split into hexagonal mosaic.                

We arrange a day trip to St.Mary's island, on the way back visit Udupi Krishna Mutt and visit to MEKKE KATTE Temple to see the century old wooden doll replicas.

DAY NINE:
Trekking:

The geographical features of Dakshina kannada consists of Hills and valleys,rivers & rock formations all covered with hundreds of species of valuable plants and trees.We arrange trekking in the hills of the Western Ghats with destinations like cascading waterfalls.

Most of these tracks are almost virgin tracks & least exploited by mankind. The richness of its Flora & fauna is just waiting to be discovered, caves asking to be explored, ruins and traces of ancient civilizations inviting a study; lovely unspoiled places to camp. Trekking can stretch from one to three days and it could be arranged as picnic for all age groups.

Note: In order to leave nature at its best we strictly prohibit littering cans and plastics.

Crab and Fish Hunting:

This is an old sport in Dakshina Kannada. Instead of Angling, the local people go to the river during low tide at nights with hurricane lantern, spear and a crab trap. The fishes or crabs get attracted to the light and then it is hunted. This is a very interesting and popular sport in Kundapur and at the same time if you are lucky you will come across the waterlife of the west coast.
Note: The participants are requested to bring shorts or swimming suit and Gum boots.
